Moment #02: February 23 - 28, 1986 – Chicago House opens its first residence

In the last week of February 1986, Chicago House welcomed our first residents to a two-flat in Uptown. Two months later, this building was at-capacity with eight individuals residing within its walls. Residents had access to volunteers trained in providing emotional support; meanwhile, the agency continued to discuss the need for additional support services and facilities. Later this year, the agency acquired administrative office space and began to transition from volunteer support to paid program staff.
