Chicago House Welcomes New Members to the Board of Trustees and Associate Board
CHICAGO, IL—Chicago House welcomes new members to the Board of Trustees and the Associate Board. Malaika Tyson and Anthony Zamer were elected to the Board of Trustees. Tyson and Zamer contribute their expertise to the organization, bringing with unique experiences that will lead Chicago House this year and beyond.
Malaika Tyson
Malaika Tyson, Ph.D., is a Shareholder at McAndrews whose practice focuses on corporate intellectual property and patent protection strategies. Malaika assists innovative companies in developing integrated approaches to the strategic management of intellectual property by providing patent and trademark prosecution, competitive intellectual property analysis and portfolio management, and management of complex multi-faceted intellectual property transactions. Malaika received her J.D. from The University of Chicago Law School and earned her Ph.D. in Chemistry (Analytical) from Purdue University.
Anthony Zamer
Anthony Zamer joined Chicago House’s Board of Trustees in January 2022. He currently serves as Director of Program Management at University of Chicago Medicine managing capital renovations and new construction. Anthony began his career in Chicago with a nonprofit real estate developer focusing on low-income housing.
Meet Chicago house’s New Associate Board Members
Chicago House also welcomes four new members to the Associate Board. Kevin Gomez, Katie Knotts, Darek Lambert, and Matt McKeown join a growing group of early and mid-career professionals who raise critical awareness and support for Chicago House.
Kevin Gomez
Originally from Levittown, NY, Kevin Gomez has lived in New York City and Washington, D.C., and now calls Chicago home. He received a BA in Political Science from Stony Brook University and his J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center. Kevin currently works as a commercial litigator with White & Case LLP in their Chicago office and actively incorporates pro bono matters into his practice. In his downtime, Kevin enjoys spending time with friends, traveling, and seeking the best doughnut a city has to offer.
Katie Knotts
Katie Knotts is originally from North Carolina but found home in Chicago in 2015, where she is a cyclist, recruiter, and musician. She works in staffing and recruiting at LaSalle Network and is excited to work closely with their DEB (diversity, equity, and belonging) committee. You can find her strolling the city, searching for bookstores, and attempting to climb long bits of fabric at circus classes in Logan Square.
Darek Lambert
Darek Lambert is a communications manager and oversees various global communications strategies for KPMG and has worked in various marketing, public relations and communications roles during his career. Born in Evansville, IN and growing up in a small town outside of Champaign-Urbana, Darek went to complete his undergraduate and graduate school in Illinois at Quincy University and later moved to Des Moines, IA. New to Chicago in 2022, Darek enjoys exploring the city, traveling, and attending concerts and music festivals.
Matt McKeown
Matt McKeown is a Human Capital Consultant with a passion for equitable housing policy. Born and raised in the south suburbs of Chicago, Matt completed his BA in Political Science from the University of Missouri and his Masters in Public Administration from the University of Washington. Matt has worked across the public and private sectors and his experience ranges from AmeriCorps to multinational corporations. In his professional life, Matt leads Deloitte's Chicago office LGBTQIA+ & Allies Community and works to integrate queer programming and education into a corporate space. Matt loves to read and is an avid cyclist and participant in AIDS/LifeCycle.
About Chicago House
Chicago House and Social Service Agency has been on the forefront of reducing barriers for those affected by HIV/AIDS since the early years of the epidemic. Founded in 1985, Chicago House was the first HIV housing provider in the Midwest. It now serves nearly 3,000 individuals and families annually through expanded programming designed to holistically support individuals impacted by HIV/AIDS through housing, health, employment services, and the TransLife Care Program.
